Privacy Policy

Overview

Keisen is a desktop application. Your databases, queries, and results stay on your machine. We collect minimal data to operate the licensing system and improve the product.

What we collect

Account information

When you create an account, we store your email address and a hashed authentication token. This is used solely for license validation and subscription management.

Usage analytics

We use Google Tag Manager on our website (getkeisen.app) to understand how visitors interact with the site. This includes page views, button clicks, and download events. The desktop app does not send browsing or query analytics.

AI queries

When you use Keisen AI, your prompt and schema context are sent to our server, which forwards the request to an AI provider. We track the number of tokens used per billing cycle for quota enforcement. We do not store the content of your prompts or AI responses.

What we do NOT collect

  • Database contents, query results, or row data
  • Database credentials or connection strings
  • File paths or system information
  • Keystrokes, screenshots, or screen recordings

Credential storage

Database passwords, SSH keys, and SSL certificates are encrypted with AES-256-GCM and stored locally. Keisen never saves credentials in plain text. See our Security documentation for details.

Data sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties. The only external services that receive data are:

  • Stripe — for payment processing (email, payment method)
  • AI providers — for AI query processing (schema context, prompts), only when you use the AI feature
  • Google Tag Manager — for website analytics only (not in the desktop app)

Data retention

Account data is retained while your subscription is active. If you cancel and request deletion, we remove your account data within 30 days. Analytics data is aggregated and anonymized.

Local data

Keisen stores project metadata, query history, tabs, and settings locally on your machine. This data never leaves your device. You can delete it by removing the app's data directory.

Connection sharing

When you share a connection via link, the connection details are encrypted client-side with AES-256-GCM using a password you choose. The encrypted payload is encoded in the URL. No connection data passes through our servers.

Children's privacy

Keisen is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of Keisen after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
